About Recovery Station

Starting your career with Recovery Station will empower you to develop foundational skills in a supportive and innovative environment.

We are one of the largest private providers of allied health professionals for disability, mental health and aged care services across the Hunter, Central Coast, Sydney and Tamworth.

We’ve been in the Allied Health industry for 20 years and you don’t get that sort of longevity without the best of the best employees. We know that when we support our team, it means that they support our clients, which is what we are all about.

How Our Graduate Program Will Empower Your Future

We believe that when you choose us for your Graduate role, you are entrusting us with teaching you the core skills that will form the foundation for an amazing career to come. With this in mind, we’ve set out a structured, comprehensive 12-month plan:

  • You will start with a classroom style orientation so you can meet your team, play around with your new laptop and our online database and do some pre-reading and training modules before seeing clients
  • We then take you out to ridealong with your supervisor so you can observe and ask questions (we can do a day of this in your interview process if you haven’t had a community placement but want to know if you’ll like it)
  • Your supervisor will then begin shadowing your sessions, letting you take the reins and providing updates so that you’ll feel confident when you begin seeing clients independently
  • All clinicians commence with daily supervision and you will have opportunities for training one on one with your supervisor plus group training sessions with the other Grads + the wider OT team
  • Attend multi-disciplinary meetings and enjoy opportunities for collaboration as you share clients with other disciplines

Once you’ve settled in, if you find you’re particularly passionate about a certain area, we have pathways to leadership or clinical specialisation such as home mods, AT or Mental health.

You’ve worked hard to get to this point so we need have some fun at work too:

  • To bring us together as a team, we have a wellbeing program that involves monthly social events. Previously we’ve gone to mini golf, ten pin bowling, wheelchair basketball + rugby, made dumplings, candles and gingerbread houses, paint & sip, and celebrated important dates such as International Women’s Day and mental health month and many others
  • You will also celebrate your milestones in your Grad program with a Graduate celebration at your 12-month mark
  • To allow you more time to focus on clinical work you will have someone allocated to you in our admin team to assist with booking client appointments for you. Your travel is reimbursed at $0.99/km and you also receive a laptop + phone/ data and laundry allowances
  • Novated leasing options
  • Professional indemnity and public liability insurance covered for you
  • Ability to transfer between offices if you move one day
  • Discounted Health Insurance for you and your family plus other everyday savings on your Energy Bill, online shopping, groceries, petrol and more
  • An Employee Assistance Program is available to provide external, confidential support

About the Role

As a community- based team, we predominantly see our clients in their homes, group homes, aged care facilities or in a public setting that’s relevant for them eg out and about testing new  wheelchair. We want to see our clients where they are most comfortable and that’s relevant to their goals.

Some of our team schedule a full day of seeing 3 or 4 clients one day, then balance this the next by working from home or having an office day to write reports, prepare resources, have supervision / training. Or you can mix things up and split your day depending how you like to work!

A community role is great as it allows you to have genuine flexibility and control over how you structure your days and therefore you don’t miss your afternoon sport or having the social life you’ve sacrificed whilst studying!

In your Grad Program you be supported to service a predominantly adult, NDIS & DVA caseload (12 yrs old and up) as well as:

  • Support clients with a range of tasks such as life skills – budgeting/shopping/travel/ cooking, pressure care, sensory, cognitive re-training, prescribing equipment and assistive tech, upper limb + fine & gross motor therapy plus home assessments and modifications (initially minor and you can receive more training in complex mods)
  • Comprehensive assessment and reporting eg initials, functional capacity, Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) or Activities of Daily Living (ADL) & SIL or ILO
  • We see clients with lifelong disabilities, neurological conditions (MND, MS, Parkinsons, Stroke), TBI/ABI, Autism/ASD, amputations, deaf or vision impairments and more so you will have variety in your caseload

Alongside having the freedom to work from home, we have offices in Toronto, Erina and Neutral Bay so you can have a home base. Depending where you live we’ll ensure you see clients in your area and you can also choose to use the clinic space for client appointments, to write reports and spend time with your Supervisor and hang out with other new Grads!

Commonly Asked Questions

Leaving uni and starting your career can be daunting and we get that. We thought we’d put together some answers to commonly asked questions when it comes to our Graduate Program to help you understand what we have on offer.

What is the level of support that I’ll receive?

You’ll be allocated your own clinician to provide mentoring and extensive supervision. You’ll receive field supervision and shadowing so you can observe experienced clinicians’ methods and test your new skills in a safe environment. Plus, you’ll be part of the grad team, so you’ll be connecting with other grads in exactly the same space as you.

Will I have minimum billable hours?

It’s important to understand that this is a community-based role and you will service a diverse & rewarding caseload, but you won’t be expected to have minimum hours or to attend client visits in the community until you are ready. This will be discussed with your Supervisor as you build your client base.

What does my long-term career pathway look like?

That is up to you! But what we’ll do is support you to ensure that you’re working toward and achieving your goals. This includes choosing your own specialities, undertaking training and having a caseload that suits your chosen career path.

What about remuneration?

Recovery Station offers a competitive remuneration package plus lots of other perks, which we’re happy to discuss with you.

Is CPD included?

Absolutely! We know that when you’re starting your career, ongoing training and professional development is everything. In our program, you will have a full 12 months of training mapped out, so you know what training you’ll receive and when. Our senior team is still receiving comprehensive training long after their grad program is finished!

  • A comprehensive induction program
  • Regular (and encouraged) connection to peers and mentors
