Dannielle - GraduateRecovery Station was my preferred choice when researching Grad Programs, and I am so glad I followed my gut feeling! I feel that all my work and time is recognised and valued.
Our 12-month grad program occurs in a supportive supervisory structure that ensures the development of your foundational skills.
We believe that when you choose us for your Graduate role, you are entrusting us with teaching you the core skills that will form the foundation for an amazing career to come. With this in mind, we’ve set out a structured, comprehensive 12-month plan:
- You will start with a classroom style orientation so you can meet your team, play around with your new laptop and our online database and do some pre-reading & training modules before seeing clients
- We then take you out to ridealong with your supervisor so you can observe and ask questions (we can do a day of this in your interview process if you haven’t had a community placement but want to know if you’ll like it)
- Your supervisor will then begin shadowing your sessions, letting you take the reins and providing feedback so that you’ll feel confident when you begin seeing clients independently
- All clinicians commence with daily supervision and you will have opportunities for training one on one with your supervisor plus group training sessions with the other Grads + the wider OT / Speech team
- Attend multi-disciplinary meetings and enjoy opportunities for collaboration as you share clients with clinicians from other disciplines
Once you’ve settled in, if you find you’re particularly passionate about a certain area, we have career progression pathways towards leaderships roles or clinical specialisation such as Neuro, dysphagia or AAC for the speechies or home mods, AT or Mental health for the OT’s.
You’ve worked hard to get to this point so we need have some fun at work too:
- To bring us together as a team, we have a wellbeing program that involves monthly social events. Previously we’ve gone to mini golf, ten pin bowling, wheelchair basketball + rugby, made dumplings, candles and gingerbread houses, paint & sip, and celebrated important dates such as International Women’s Day and mental health month and many others
- You will also celebrate your milestones in your Grad program with a Graduate celebration at your 12-month mark
- To allow you more time to focus on clinical work you will have someone allocated to you in our admin team to assist with booking client appointments for you. Your travel is reimbursed at $0.99/km and you also receive a laptop + phone/ data and laundry allowances
