We’ve been in the Allied Health industry for 20 years, and you don’t get that sort of longevity without the best of the best employees. We know that when we support our team, it means that they support our clients, which is what we are all about.

Here are some key traits of Recovery Station:

  • We love what we do because everyone’s role contributes to helping our clients live a more independent, empowered life
  • Collaborating with passionate, likeminded colleagues creates connection and facilitates personal and professional growth
  • Keeping personalised care at the heart of what we do challenges us to seek new and innovative ways to deliver life-changing service

Joining Recovery Station means aligning with a company that believes in empowering you and your future.

Your day-to-day

Joining forces with our established Speech Pathologist and with the support of our NSW team, this position is our first OT role in Melbourne and will therefore play a pivotal role in helping us establish our services in the region. Someone with the ability and desire to work with us to grow OT in Melbourne would be perfect for this position. We aim to also add Physio and other disciplines as we expand and become established in Melbourne.

Day to day as a team of community- based clinicians, we predominantly see our clients in their homes, group homes, aged care facilities or in a public setting that’s relevant for them eg out and about testing a new wheelchair. We want to see our clients where they are most comfortable and that’s relevant to their goals.

Some of our team schedule a full day of seeing 3 or 4 clients one day, then balance this the next by working from home or having an office day to write reports, prepare resources, have supervision / training. Or you can mix things up and split your day depending how you like to work!

A community role is great as it allows you to have genuine flexibility and control over how you structure your days and therefore you don’t miss your afternoon sport or being able to drop the kids to school in the mornings / pick them up in the afternoons!

Depending where you are living, we tailor your caseload to service clients close to home. Your personalised admin support team will work with you to ensure you aren’t zigzagging around Melbourne and you’ll have clients to see close to you.

This role would best suit a clinician looking for circa 2-3 days per week and we can work with you to build up your caseload to full-time if so desired.

Over time and in consultation with you, you will be taught how to confidently:

  • Service a predominantly adult, NDIS & DVA caseload (12 yrs old and up)
Support clients with a range of tasks such as life skills – budgeting/shopping/travel/ cooking, pressure care, sensory, cognitive re-training, prescribing equipment and assistive tech, upper limb + fine & gross motor therapy plus home assessments and modifications (initially minor and you can receive more training in complex mods)
  • Comprehensive assessment and reporting eg initials, functional capacity, Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) or Activities of Daily Living (ADL) & SIL or ILO
  • We see clients with lifelong disabilities, neurological conditions (MND, MS, Parkinsons, Stroke), TBI/ABI, Autism/ASD, amputations, deaf or vision impairments and more so you will have variety in your caseload

If you have a foundation in residential aged care, paediatrics or hospital work and are curious about making the move to an adult, community caseload – reach out and let us know as we have a supportive team that is happy to help you make the transition.

To be considered for this role, you must be registered with AHPRA, possess a driver’s licence with access to your own reliable vehicle and be willing to access a Working with Children Check and NDIS Workers Screening. We are also requesting that the successful candidate be comfortable following Victorian Health COVID and flu vaccination requirements.

  • We trust you to work from home, or in the office, via telehealth and we give you a laptop and pay a phone/ data allowance to support this

  • Discounted Health Insurance for you and your family plus other everyday savings on your Energy Bill, online shopping, groceries and more

Your career development

  • Your thorough Orientation will be supported by ongoing one on ones with your Supervisor to discuss your goals with an personalised CPD plan. We’ll help you set your learning goals and plan what you’d like to upskill in. For example, would you like to learn more about Mods, AT, Mental Health, Driving Assessments or receive more leadership training?
  • These will be complimented with monthly inservices with your fellow OT’s so you can learn from external presenters, share ideas, resources and stay abreast of any industry updates
  • We love facilitating development pathways for clinicians seeking career progression and added responsibility via either supervising students/ grads/ junior staff, increased complexity of caseload or involvement in management procedures depending on what avenue you’d like to explore
  • Two paid CPD days per annum
  • Formal and informal liaison opportunities with other members of our MDT to broaden your clinical knowledge and provide holistic care to our clients
  • All-company training day where we bring the entire business together and invite external presenters for each discipline
